Bolivia
A country in political strife with many expecting civil war next year - however, for us it was a beautiful country with incredibly diverse geography.  Edith and Guy, Arelis' aunt and uncle, met up with us and that coupled with their Bolivian friends Amanda, Alejandro, Jimena and their family made for a most memorable country.

Bolivia, Copacabana
Nov 24th & Dec 9th 2006
Copacabana on Lake Titicaca is a colourful little tourist port just inside Bolivia from Peru which we went through on the way to La Paz and again with Edith and Guy.  The second time we even had the car blessed by the local priest (wearing a Yankees cap!)
Bolivia, La Paz Nov 25th - 30th
& Dec 8th -15th 2006
The capital of Bolivia, La Paz, has a brilliant topography; built all over the nooks and crannies of a spectacular sandstone valley. Here Amanda Yaffir  and her family showed us great hospitality by not only putting us up for days on end but also showing us around and taking us out.
Southern Bolivia Dec 1st - 7th 2006 Southern Bolivia with its coloured lakes, massive salt flats and dramatic mountains was very impressive.  Largely uninhabitated we chose here to break down - thank goodness for a satellite connection.  Turned out to be a stone had chipped the second fuel filter under teh van - no pressure, no power.  Resealed we were off again.
Eastern Bolivia July 25th - 29th 2006 Eastern Bolivia meant for us East of La Paz. First we travelled through the mountanous humid jungle area then onto the flatter plains of the Pantanal. We orginally were aiming for Brazil - but having arrived with no visa we had to backtrack over 500km of rough dirt road and this time exit into Argentina.  The photo link to the left does not work because we took no photos!
