On flying in from Panama, we were spoilt rotten for a couple of days in Barranquilla with my sister-in-law's
parents. Fed till we were full and then some. Luis and Margola took us all over town! We took a
day trip to Santa Marta - great beaches, park, food. |

Cartagena
port is where we picked up Hopper who arrived 5 days late. We ate
well and hung out with a couple shipping the other way having driven up
from Argentina. Within Cartagena is Antigua the old
walled in city - a very beautiful and well preserved colonial
town. Just
about every square here had many typical dancers, full of energy and
shaking every bone in their bodies! |

Sept 6th - 10th 2006 |
Bogota,
home to Santiago Montoya and his wife Camila who were the ones
who convinced us to come Colombia. This city was great - museums -
restaurants - colonial sites - cable cars - malls. Well, you name it
and you can find it here. Again, people were very polite, taxi drives
very honest, delicious food, coffees, desert, etc. Modern and colonial.

Sept 11th - 13th 2006 |
In the land of Bambo - a heaven! if you are looking for peace and
quiet, nature, bird watching, great hosts, this is the place. In the
morning we could spend hours watching the different types of birds
- think of a color and we saw a bird that colour. At Hacienda
Bambusa, Soraida and Santiago's parents took great care of us - where
once again we ate like royalty. |

Going
south we decided to stop at Popayan and Pasto before crossing the
border. In Popayan we met another great Colombian family that took us
to the local colonial sites and hotspring. In Pasto we met William and
his family, although William is wheelchair bound he was an
inspiration. Look for him he is going to be a great artist. |
