Otavalo
one of our favorite places in Ecuador. There were mountains, volcanoes,
lakes, waterfalls, and the market. Very touristy, but charming, relaxing
and incredible scenery. |

Cuyabeno in the Amazon, we were excited to
be heading to the jungle and looking forward to seeing anacondas, pink
dolphins, monkeys, birds. However, all we really got to see was lots of
insect. It was largely disappointing and expensive by Ecuadorian
standards. |

Quito
- capitol of Ecuador high in the mountains and crowded as it sprawls over
the hillsides. Seperated into different sections, old, new,
poor, rich. We found the best coffee shop since Santiago and Camila
took us to one in Bogota, Colombia. |

Cotopaxi
and the West Coast. High up above Quito Cotopaxi is a snow covered
volcano that is still active but possible to climb. Not easy at just less
than 6000m. We camped at 4500m, it was beautiful to see the sunset and
sunrise, unfortunately the altitude proved too much the Brit. Banos hot
springs were dirty crowded and a dissappointment. Puerto Lopez has
beautiful beaches, but is a very poor area and not set up for
tourism. |

Cuenca and Southern Ecuador. Dramatic
scenery and great hot springs. The area seems to have the biggest houses
in this country, meanwhile all you see is indigenous people farming. Who
is building these houses? In Cuenca we were lucky enought to met the
friendliest family in Ecuador, they wined and dined us, took us on tours,
and to their weekend house. |
