Guatemala
Guatemala is a very beautiful country with colourful indigenous people.  However, the tales of armed robbery, car jacking etc makes for anxious tourists.  We never felt safe but this might have been in our minds as the people and sights were incredible.

Tikal July 5th & 6th 2006
Tikal: Just over the border from Belize we stopped Tikal, one of the greatest Mayan ruins.  Not many tourists which was great and since we camped there we were in the park early before any of the tour buses arrived.  Lots of wildlife too.
Panajachel July 7th & 8th 2006 Panajachel: A tourist trap, but very colourful local indigenous people, great views of lake and volcanoes
Antigua July 9th 2006 Antigua: The old capitol prior to one large volcanic eruption a bit too close for comfort. It is a classic colonial city.  Having toured the city we sat in a restaurant and watched the World Cup final.
