Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua
Having agreed to meet my sister in Costa Rica around the beginning of August we were a couple of week out on our planning.  We had a few upgrades to Hopper before leaving the USA and Carole ended up coming in the middle of July so in order to make up lost time we zipped through these 3 countries largely driving straight down the Pan American.

El Salvador July 11th 2006
El Salvador. Salvadorian people seem to be very friendly - too bad that we had to leave so fast.. We stopped for diesel, I started talking to the guy that was filling up next to us. A surfing Dude that had lived in NY. He wanted to invited us to stay at  his beach house, but we only had twenty four hours to leave the country.
Honduras July 12th 2006  Honduras.  A very green country though very poor - unfortunately we saw little of it as we took less than 12 to pass through it. There were many police stops. They requested fire extinguisher, road emergency triangles, it is the law to have the seat belt on!
Nicaragua July 12th 2006 Nicaragua, much like Honduras and El Salvador we missed many of the treasures this country has to offer. Our one small break from driving through was to stop at  Granada, an old colonial town and gringos heaven. We stayed at a nice hotel but the whole town showed signs of investment - apparently American money coming in.
